  1. Interesting approach on the deck and the Mirror. Would you care to play some mirrormatches? I would like to see how different plans pan out.

  2. Great show, really appreciate talking though all the cards and match ups. I even liked the chopping down the Mana base analogies. I wish that you would talk about or expand the sideboard guide to include Jund and Burn.

Great show keep up the good work.

    1. Ask and you shall receive:
Burn (This is where Duress is far superior to Thoughtseize)
+2 Hymn to Tourach, +2 Duress, +2 Disfigure
-2 Maelstrom Pulse, -4 Ancestral Vision

Jund (Exactly the same as the Mirror)
+2 Disfigure, +2 Toxic Deluge, +1 Murderous Cut, +1 Garruk Relentless
-4 Force of Will, -2 Abrupt Decay

  3. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for letting me know what some of the people up here play. I was playing two nihil spellbombs anyway so I guess it s just a matter of finding two free slots.

  4. Played this deck in a 2K this weekend
    1. Infect, W: Extra strix and Jitte make a huge difference
    2. Ant, L
    3. Dark depths, L
    4. Suicide black , W: Jitte and artifact creatures are really good against the abyss
    5. Abzan, W: Jitte again really shines, match went really long
    6. Dark Depth, L: could have won if I have eaten thespian stage instead of waste land

    Early thoughts:
    1. jittee was an allstar
    2. Really like the 4 Strix
    3. Could we cut the second basic for a second wasteland?

Again great work, really like the list. Will continue to try it out

  5. Was wondering how you feel about running 1 grafdiggers cage and 3 leyline just to help those green sun zenith match ups without hurting your ant/graveyard match ups only really affecting your sideboard plan against lands. Is leyline a 4 of or none of for y’all? Sometimes it’s feel bad to have more than one in your opening hand and have a virtual mulligan to 5 :(.
This is assuming your local meta would have some amount of maverick, elves and graveyard strat in it….

  6. Hey John, Leyline is best as a 4-of because you really want to have it in your opening hand. You go from about 40% chance of having it in your opener to about 31% chance switching from 4 to 3 copies. When we built the deck, we were not respecting Elves! as a matchup because the metagame has been very hostile towards it for quite some time. It just isn’t a very common deck at the moment.

Instead, we chose to maximize our matchup against Lands by including a playset of relevant graveyard hate cards and two basic lands. I think if I were to move away from Leylines, I would do it by getting rid of Leyline completely in favor of some number of Nihil Spellbombs and perhaps some Surgical Extractions. I’m not a big fan of Grafdigger’s Cage because I don’t think it does enough in non-creature matchups.
