Thank you so much for this episode, and for all the episodes: I’ve been a listener since the very first one, and they just keep on getting better.
I particularly enjoy the ANT-related content, because from Wilson’s high horse “Daze in ANT” rant to this episode’s epic 2 hour length, it’s by far the most fearless and insightful.
Nonetheless, there are two topics that are missing from this episode, marring the edifice. Or, perhaps you wish to lead your listeners forward in Platonic aporia towards some future work. Perhaps you wish to inspire an intrepid dig through the archives, leaving precious historical knowledge only in the hands of the worthy. The two topics that this episode practically screams out in their absence are the reason why 2 Past In Flames has become stock and the effect the Grim Tutor vs. Dark Petition question has on sideboarding.
Keep up the great work, guys. I’ve fairly recently picked ANT back up myself, not having played the archetype since it was called Iggy Pop. The best, and most principled, treatment of the deck before this was Adam Prosak’s article (in which he eschewed Empty the Warrens, as you mention). I think you guys have now clearly surpassed that excellent primer in terms of creating something that the new(ish) player can pisk up, understand, and begin to succeed with. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this amazing comment. We will attempt to address your two questions in greater detail in the near future.
Your podcast are excellent. Looking forward to listen more.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi,
Long time listener just getting back into magic after a 2 year hiatus. Is the reason for the double grim over the 5 mana tutor simply to allow yourself to fight off the GY axis? Also not chunking yourself for 5 in the situations you don’t need to cast the tutor during an ad naus?
I just 5-0’d comp league running https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/732618#paper (Surfinbird19’s list but I ran 4 misty instead of blood stained misty split) and killed myself twice on desperation ad naus, taking 9 damage from drawing tendrils and the 5 mana tutor when hunting for one last ritual.
Anyways, did you guys ever sort out that request for hoodies that I made on the third episode? 😀
Cheers,
Ryan
